Why were they unafraid to lie about that very important fact, and refuse to tell how the tariff on imports are designed to work and what they will accomplish?

lets call american cars made in mexico car a's and american cars made in america car b's.
also call used cars car c's
if car b's are selling for less than car a's and selling more than car a's then in order to increase sales for car a's (made in mexico) car b's prices would be raised to make them equal in price to car a's.
as far as used cars -car c's- the price would be raised to discourage people from buying only used cars.
